2024-2025 Fall Schedule is now available!!
Our mission as a small, local, dance studio is to provide each individual dancer with a fun, healthy, and educational dance experience with a ballet foundation. We value all levels and believe that having fun and making lifelong friends is the best part of dance!
Our instructors range in experience from degrees in dance, to alumni, to decades of professional ballet and dance experience. They work hard to provide a welcoming and healthy dance studio for all levels to learn and grow.
Our classes offer a well-rounded education for dancers just starting out as well as those with years of experience. Our dance studio provides classes and productions for ages 2 years old through adult years. We believe that it is not the age you start at but the love you have for dance that matters most.

Our instructors have a range of experience levels, from those who have recently graduated with a degree in dance to those with decades of professional experience. Our instructors are highly qualified and passionate about teaching dance.
SDA puts on two shows a year. The first show is "The Nutcracker Ballet" which takes place in early December. Although dancers have to audition for this show, everyone gets a role! The second show is our Spring Show in June which is our end of season recital. All recreational classes will perform at least one dance in this production. Spring Show themes are announced on our instagram, facebook, and in classes every December. Find out more about these shows in their respective tabs at the top of the page.
Yes, we have a competition team for dancers who are interested in more intensive training and performance opportunities. There are multiple levels to our team which are determined by experience, level, and age (Mini, Junior, and Senior Company). Auditions with our director, Miss Heatha, are typically held by appointment. Call the studio directly to schedule! Find out more about our team by checking out the "Competition Team" tab at the top of the page.
Recreational classes are designed for dancers who want to learn and have fun, while competitive classes are for dancers who want to intensify their dance education by competing with our team in dance competitions. Competitive classes typically require more commitment and training hours. All classes will learn a dance to perform in our annual Spring Show at the end of each dance year.
We follow the snow policy of Wellesley Public Schools. Therefore, if WPS does not have school due to bad weather, SDA classes will also be cancelled. To be sure of cancellations, check our Instagram (@studiosdanceacademy) the day of bad weather.
We have no specific dress code for classes although we do encourage tights and leotards. Our preferred shade of tights are light suntan and ballet pink. We do require appropriate shoes for specific classes such as ballet, jazz, and tap.
“My daughters have made lifelong friends and learned incredible technique in their years at Studios Dance Academy. Work hard and be kind are prioritized in equal measure here, and smaller classes mean everyone feels supported.”
"My two children began dancing here when they were 3 and 4 years old. They are now 17 and 18 years old, with one graduating senior this year. I have genuinely enjoyed watching them and all of the other dancers hone their talents and mature just so beautifully. The bonds between these dancers is special and it shows on stage. It is the ultimate gift for a parent to witness this and I can therefore say I strongly recommend Studios Dance Academy. Miss Heatha has literally played such an important in their development and she is gifted in bringing out the best in her dancers."
"SDA not only teaches great technique, but also great teamwork. From a young age the dancers learn to support each other, encourage each other, and work together to create impressive performances -- from the Nutcracker every December to beautiful musical productions every spring. The dancers come together from lots of different towns, forming tight bonds. Some dancers take just one class a week, others are at the studio almost every day -- it just depends on their level of interest. The studio... fosters a culture of teamwork and encouragement. My daughter has "grown up" at this studio and she loves it more and more every year. If you're looking for a high quality, but low stress dancing experience I cannot recommend SDA enough."
"A boutique studio with a nice balance between classic and contemporary. Students often participate in both a Nutcracker and Spring production with many of them competing individually and as a team in regional and national competitions. These dancers have been especially successful in recent years with numerous top placements. The academy also performs at local community events to give back to the community and provide low key performance opportunities.
There is no emphasis on body image. Dancers of all shapes and sizes are welcomed and encouraged to develop their personal style. Many do continue to include dance in some aspect of their lives post high school, and there is a wonderful alumni network that frequently returns to help at rehearsals and productions."
